Botulinum Toxin (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Azzalure)

Botulinum toxin is manufactured by several companies and contains a highly purified derivative of the protein Botulinum Toxin Type A. Botulinum Toxin was initially used in mainstream medicine where its applications continue to expand rapidly.

In the beauty world Botulinum Toxin is administered through a series of small injections to selected muscles, relaxing them and resulting in decreased muscle activity. This leads to a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and helps to prevent ageing as well as treat the results of it. As a result it gives a more youthful appearance.

The results usually last 3-4 months although we have clients in whom it lasts a lot longer. Botulinum Toxin is often used in conjunction with other anti-ageing treatments.

Botulinum Toxin for Sweating

Small doses of Botulinum Toxin are injected into the skin blocking the actions of the nerve endings that supply the sweat glands thus preventing the production of sweat. Botulinum Toxin can be used to stop sweating on the forehead, upper lip, underarms, palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Results usually last 4-9 months.
